This was by far the BEST macaw video I have seen. It’s stupid but it made me cry thinking back to raising our greenwing from 55 days old. you have a fabulous relationship with your birds and i will definitely be contacting you all if i decide to get another.

Great video and really a pleasure to watch Buckle’s journey.

Love your video, Such a beautiful Macaw. I am watching my baby Calico Macaw grow up, he is only 50 days old, so I love seeing your video, it lets me know around the time I should start to see full feathers and their personality. Thanks for such a great video.

takeing care of birds frome birth is realy hard if you dont know how to take care of them my dad has a blue and gold and befor he got it he was studying how to take care of it for a month

The issue is more a question of are you a good home? No animal will make a “good pet” if the home is not dedicated to learning the skills and dedicating the time and resources to developing the pet potential of the animal. If you are willing to do the research about what kind of parrot would match your lifestyle best, learn how to use positive training methods (like clicker training), and make a true commitment to an animal that can out live you, then yes I think they are good pets. The issue is keeping the syringe in the birds mouth so the food goes into the mouth instead of all over its face. They have a very vigorous head bob action that is part of the natural parent feeding process. But that can be hard for us to work with. Using a finger in the mouth helps stabilize the process by keeping the head and syringe “bobbing together”. At this age they have very little interest in biting anything hard enough to break it so that is really not an issue. Chris

Are they worth buying? I mean i have to buy the bird for like $2500, cage and food and stuff for $1000s. are they good pets? or will they bite and try to escape?
