I just bought her CD with this on it when she was younger, she sounds better now than ever before
I LOVE when Darlene is on Dave. It is about the only time I watch his show.
Give Paul credit, a lot of credit. He is a huge rock and roll fan and makes these things happen while Dave runs around with his pants around his ankles doing his Bill Clinton imitation.
I’m looking forward to it.She sings every year on David Letterman, and it’s not Christmas without Darlene Love singing on David Letterman.
Awesome! Shame on the RRHOF for not including her in the list of inductees today.
Dec. 23 on Letterman to look forward to
The only thing that ruins this for me is Paul Schaffer getting up there.
He makes my skin crawl.
timeless lady, amazing voice,
Merry Christmas to all…
God bless us, everyone
This is my favorite Xmas Song all time.
This gets Joe Cool’s A++++++++++ Rating
Darlene Love is scheduled to sing this song December 23rd on Letterman.
Nice. Didn’t know. I will try to catch her doing it this year.
Was she start this tradition before or after U2 covered her hit?
She’s been singing this on Letterman for over 20 years…
She does this every year? I didn’t know it was a tradition.
BEST christmas song out there!!!

Darlene looked gorgeous at the 25th Hall of Fame Anniversary! I love this woman and her voice! One of the greatest musical voices in history! She should be in the Hall by herself! People tried to screw her, and God saved her! I love you Darlene!

Thank you, Marcie – Dee530 – for sharing this with me .. believe it or not, this song was playing in my head this morning!! Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday’s!!

David
Someone should do a movie about Darlene and how Barry Gordie and Motown put the screws to her. All she contributed and at one time was almost broke and homeless. Hell of a woman.
She will be on Letterman Dec. 23rd 2009.
There is no one better than Darlene Love.
Is she stil continuing to sing this year? I know she didnt awhile back cause of the writers strike.
darlene you get better with age how do you keep your voice unreal excellent breathtaking
One of the greatest female singers !Nobody can compare with Darlene!
I look forward to this every year, sometimes the encore gets cut off on TV, I’m glad to see the whole thing here!
Plus, she was thinner in ’05. I was happy to see that, at the recent Rock n Roll Hall of Fame concert, that she had lost the weight — she looked like she’d just emerged from the fountain of youth.
She’s got to be in her mid-60s, but at the HOF show, she looked 45. What a powerhouse voice, and supremely soulful singer. I love this woman!
I have been following this Late Show tradition for years. I think the best versions are 1995 and 2005. In ’05, she looks really sexy, with a low cut top, open toed high heels, and she does a cute little dance when “sparring” with the sax player.
Thanks rocmaven. I needed to know when this classic would be performed on Letterman. That’s why I love YouTube
