Do you just do one circuit?
Hi dr Cathy
i just find your video im 4 months pregnant and i will do your exercices everyday its hard to find exercices for pregnant women so thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
Melanie
Thank you very much for all of yours video. This is my first pregnancy. I was feeling really bad at the begining and couldn’t do a lot. It really made me depress because before I was really fit. I gained more than 20 kg. When I saw all of movies I started do some exercises and came back to my previous psychological condition. Although I 34 weeks I believe it’s not too late to start exercising and coming back to previous condition. Once more Thank you.
@Danniekitten Most women should be able to continue doing the workouts they were doing before they became pregnant. Many of my videos were filmed when I was 39 weeks pregnant, if that gives you an indication of what’s possible.
heather-Congratulations! While it’s never too late to start making healthy changes to your lifestyle, you’ll have to decide for yourself what level of exercise you’re capable of at this point. Any amount will provide you some added comfort & strength during delivery, but consult with your midwife about your level of health & fitness. An easy walking routine may be all you need. Remember to take 6 weeks off after baby is born, but then join me back right here & I’ll help you get back in shape.
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS!! i am pregnant with my second child. Hi Dr Cathy
i just came across your videos and so excited that i found them!- i am 34 weeks pregnant and i am wondering if it is safe to start doing these exercises now . i had a very hard time the first 6 months of my pregnancy which took me away from keeping my body active. so i am also wondering if i start now will it help in delivery and help me to get my strength back to what it was
@EmilySFreeman No, I typcally do 3. Begin with either the warm up or cardio abs video, then select a weight training video that you will repeat 2 or 3 times, then follow up with yoga, abs or stretch.
Dr cathy, im going on 9 weeks and im 104 pounds.. i used to work out 4 days a week for 45 min doing circuit training with weights following videos like jari love and jackie warner. I cut down to 2-3 days a week following thier video for 30 min. I lift 8 pound weights doing squats and lunges as well, but in minutes with no rest..is this safe? I would like to continue to workout through my pregnancy but not sure what videos to follow, thanks!
The less you do, the more tired you will become and therefore you will want to do even less. The more you do, the more energy your body will have and therefore you will want to do more. Sounds crazy, but it’s true. Just get up and walk to the mailbox, right now. Then later on today, walk to the corner. Then tomorrow walk around your block. Within no time, you’ll have the energy to walk around your whole neigborhood. And you and your baby will be healthier
@jlizzymlove start right now if you haven’t already. The sooner, the better…especially if you start before you’re pregnant.
@jamiejanebibat you’re welcome
@Sakura6576 A lot of women write to me about leg cramps…drinking plenty of water, eating healthy foods, minimizing salt, and elevating your feet can help. Some women are just going to get leg cramps during pregnancy no matter what, but try these ideas to maybe minimize yours.
@lindatwothree everybody is different, but I would suggest a minimum of 5 pounds for most people, a maximum of 20 pounds for others. Using 3 pound weights is just too easy for most women. I like to use 7 – 15 pounds for most upper body exercises, but mix it up a bit to really work your muscles.
DR. CATHY this is my first pregnancy and it has taken a toll on my body and food cravings…im only 3 1/2 months and i already gained about 20 pounds. My arms are so fat and flabby and my thighs are ridiculously big. I know you cant diet while your pregnant. Ive been eating fruit and i cant eat fast food or fried meats at all. I havent been eating alot of sweets. I dont have enough energy to move i just sit in the house like a couch potatoe. Can you give me “any” type of advice for this laziness
iIheared the first three months you have to really take care of yourself . Can i start working out as soon as i find out im pregnant or three months after????
Thanks doctor Cathy, your video helps me a lot. Keep it up.
helo doctor!im nearly 4mos pregnant n im usually suffering form leg cramps!its kinda painful ,when im abt to get up from bed,its kinda difficult 4 me since my legs really ache..what kind of exercise is suitable 4 me then??tnx!!!
What are good weight sizes to these exercises doc? I’m 30 weeks.
love your videos!
@sarahcordeiro Yes – of course you can. Modify as needed to accomodate your growing belly, but don’t quit exercising – in fact, this is the most important time in your life to work out! Take care and keep me posted.
