its not about a girl. The song was written about lyrically about Craig wanting to quit the band, not about the end of a relationship like majority assumed.

I get an Alice in Wonderland vibe from this vid. And not necesarily the disney movie, more the book.
The lyrics tell the meaning of the video, the mouse is the girl and the bird is the boy and their relationship is imploding obviously. The pictures show when they were in love and the fight scene represents their hostility towards each other in the present “like they never knew each other at all.”
