It should be clear then, that the stigma plays a role in the way people respond to these names according to the race/ethnic background of the woman and the stereotypes that follow her. Let me be more clear though. For example, I know a girl whose name was Daniella. Her name was considered ghetto by many. I know a Latina named Daniella. Her name is considered beautiful and exotic by many. I know a girl named Priyanka. Her name was considered ghetto by many. I also know an Indian girl named Priyanka. People say, “Oh that’s a beautiful name!!” In these cases, regardless of their ethnic background, the names are the same.
